Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, also known as Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed by the label's the first artist of female gender for Dreamville Records by J. Cole. Her first single was released on the label on October 21 2016 titled Pho where she gained fame. Shea Butter Baby, her debut album, was released on the 7th of May, 2019. Ari Lennox has released her music online since 2012 following the release of her first mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. The year 2014 saw her continue to share her music over the internet including her independently release single Bound. On July 21 2015 she appeared on Omen's album Elephant Eyes on the track Sweat it Out. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew back then was interested in having her perform on Rihanna reference. Her announcement to be signed to Dreamville Records was made on the 8th of December. Backseat, a track she recorded alongside Cozz in the Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. On the 21st of October in 2016, her EP Pho was released. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track and also opened her own tour, the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. In 2018, she appeared on two songs alongside her labelmates EarthGang in the video for Nothing but the Best. Also, she appeared on Bas On Icarus. The debut album of Ari Lennox Shea Butter Baby was released on the 16th of July, 2018. The debut single, called Whipped Cream, from the album dropped on in September 5th, 2018, accompanied by a a music video. On November 9 she released two more singles called 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. In November 2013, she released her debut album No One and Pedigree. The singer appeared alongside Cole on The Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby, on November 16and later she released the song in a solo version on her first album. It was released with an accompanying music video that debuted in February 20th, 2019 and surpassed 3 million views via YouTube within one week. She was the supporting act for 6LACK on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December of 2018.
